Press Release Mudd Classic 100

The Greater Cumberland Raceway kicked off the season with the running of the 1st annual Mudd Classic 100 with a near capacity crowd on hand. Cars hit the track for the first time in nearly three years at the picturesque race track but Mother Nature would win this one. Steady rain showers throughout the day on Saturday hampered the tremendous effort of the track crew to get the surface ready for racing competition. All three Allegany County commissioners were on hand for the first race and two of them even got in the flag stand to throw the green flag for the event. There were cars in the pits from PA. MD, WV, VA, and even as far as Delaware who were ready to take on the big 5/8 mile dirt track. Due to rain it has been rescheduled for April 8th. More details to follow.

After many conversations with different Bedford Speedway Semi Late drivers, I have decided to allow Aluminum or Steel bodies to run in the Semi Late class but must follow the new rule.

C. Aluminum bodies must add 25 pounds and it must be in front of the fire wall. Still the same total weight but 25 pounds secure in front of the firewall and body must have original bends. No flat sided bodies!
